I attended the Bedford 2.8 Fotocon convention and had the opportunity to learn a little about "macro" shooting. I've always been intimated by that, so I must say it was fun to learn something new. There were some vintage camera's there and I was able to shoot them. My favorite was the Argus C3, which they have coined "The Brick". Macro gives you the ability to get extreme close-upphotography, usually of very small subjects, in which the size of the subject in the photograph is greater than life size. I will definitely explore this option more.
Recently, I had the pleasure of shooting a dear friends 80th birthday party. I was so surprised to find out it was her first birthday party. What an honor it was to play a small part to capture those memories for them. Her brother from Arizona flew and and surprised her as well as many friends she has made thru the years. I can't help but to smile and think that she will look at those pictures for many years to come and think about her first birthday party. Happy Birthday Wanda.
My precious niece just started playing AAU basketball. Goodness she is a fiesty one. I have taking pictures of the team, sure reminds me of when my kids would play basketball or soccer. Sometimes I miss those days. The weekends spent at tournaments with the families. My sister who is now an assistant coach is using the images as a training tool, to show them what they did right and what needs improvement. What an awesome idea.
In late December I had the privilege to shoot an amazing family at the Chickasaw National Park. The weather was not nice at the time. I think it was like 20 degrees. But they were all troopers, we would take a few shots then get in the car to warm up. The images turned out amazing and I am so proud of the the kids for hanging in there. We will shoot them again but this time in the spring/summer time. I think mom is already shopping for their outfits.
